
About Sri Wening Handayani
Sri Wening Handayani is a Principal Social Development Specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB). She provides awareness and training on social analysis, promotes knowledge on social dimensions, facilitates sharing of information on social dimensions and social protection, and supports external relations and coordination with development partners on social development, social protection, and labor issues. Prior to joining ADB, she was a consultant practitioner in social development. She has a PhD in sociology from the University of Missouri.Giving Asia’s elderly care and dignity

There is a seemingly hidden problem for Asia in providing economic, social and emotional security for the elderly. But drawing on the experiences of more developed economies, I think there is a silver lining behind this—an opportunity if actions are taken now to provide care and to give dignity to the elderly in Asia.
